Can't help observing that taking thumbnails into photoshop is probably a waste of time; thumbnails are about ideas generation, not polishing drawings. I suggest you just move on with more - and maybe embrace some of the toolsets in Photoshop that are 'not' drawing in the traditional sense - i.e. use of the lasso tool, gradients, and warp tools. I know you're worried about 'drawing' not being a strength, but I honestly believe that working with pencil line art on a white piece of paper isn't going to help you find original, non-generic forms. You need to feel the fear and do it anyway, Josh - roll your sleeves up and have a proper bash! What's the worst that could happen? :)
